If you are wondering how to make yourself feel better after a bad day, you have come to the right place. I will pick you up today and help you understand your mood better.
Some days, you already wake up moody, with a bad feeling or sad thoughts. And some days, nothing really seems to go right. And you end up feeling overwhelmed and grumpy.
Since I am a very moody and sensitive person, I have had many many of those days. So I feel like I am in the right position to help you get through one.
Every person has their very own needs, when they are having a bad day. My boyfriend for example is a real people person. So when he is stressed, he feels better when he is around friends. I, on the contrary, recharge best when I am alone.
On moody days, you find out what you are currently in need of, in order to make you feel better.
Find out what you need in order to feel better, and unapologetically go for it.
If you wouldn’t care what anyone says and if there would be no “but”s – what would you like to do on your bad day?
What a whole show on Netflix? Meet your friends even though there’s still stuff to get done at work? Cancel on your friend and go to the gym instead?
Do it. On days like this, you feeling better is your priority.
We have so many “must-do”s and so much responsibility daily, on a bad day, you just want to take the pressure out of everything.
Is there something you avoid doing, that makes you grumpy? Go do it!
This one is tough, but very rewarding.
So you cancelled your workout this morning, because you were too tired? Or there are tasks that need to be done, that you keep postponing for days?
I promise you, cleaning up your flat or getting a job for client done is nothing that gets more fun the longer you procrastinate.
It sucks, but you need to tackle it. Count to 5 and just start, without further thinking about it. This is my magic trick – works wonders.
Getting something done you procrastinated one is a MAJOR moodbooster, that will make you proud and give you peace of mind.
When feeling moody, distract yourself !
Even though it is very easy to fall into feeling moody and grumpy – until you hate everything and most of all yourself – you need to get yourself out of this state of mind.
If you don’t, you might go to bed moody, because you didn’t get anything done, except feeling discontent and having been grumpy to everyone.
So, do anything that will take your thoughts off of your mood. Start a new book, plan your goals for this month (and envision a better time), meet a friend for dinner (to whine a little), go to the gym (even if its a quick workout) or get on the couch and do a little guilty pleasure online shopping – anything, to guide your thoughts into a new direction.
Do something for yourself only.
Hell yes. Without feeling guilty, only look after yourself only this evening.
Take a shower, climb into your comfy pyjamas, pamper your hair with nourishing coconut oil, paint your nails in your favorite colour, get a fancy face mask on and go to bed early.
All this is mentally helping you to “clean” your mind and get rid of negative feelings and coming out brand new and refreshed.
So..
A bad mood can have various sources. It can be hormonal, it might be lingering discontentment or it might be due to the fact, that you procrastinated to long on a task. That’s why it is important to look into your feelings, to know what you need help yourself.
What have you deprived yourself of lately? If you worked a lot, you clearly need time for yourself and your friends. If you are looking for a job, you need support to muster the power to keep looking and applying. Ask yourself what you need today and then give it to you <3
